Alyssa Joseph
I am a W̱SÁNEĆ (Malahat First Nation) graduate researcher working at the intersection of Indigenous governance, ethnoecology, and wildlife research, with a focus on kinship-based stewardship and care for my human and more-than-human relatives. Through the ÁLEṈENEȻ Living Lab, my MITACS work supports Indigenous-led research ethics, land- and water-based learning, and stewardship pathways grounded in Indigenous laws, values, and love for the lands and waters that sustain us. I am completing my MSc in Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria and plan to begin doctoral research focused on Indigenous governance and water health in the Salish Sea.
