Hi Clam Friends,
We invite you to register for the fourth event in “Digging into Clam Conversations,” an online series in 2021- 2022 to explore the resurgence of ancestral clam management practices.
The event “The Restoration of Ancestral Clam Management Practices,” planned in collaboration with The Sea Garden Restoration Project, will be taking place November 19th, from 10 am-noon.
Our speakers will explore learnings from contemporary clam garden restoration and share how cultural knowledge is put to practice in revitalizing ancestral stewardship practices. We will hear from MENEŦIYE, members of the W̱SÁNEĆ Sea Garden Traditional Knowledge Working Group, and from Erin Slade, a marine ecologist working to restore sea gardens with Parks Canada, W̱SÁNEĆ, and Hul’q’umi’num communities. We encourage webinar participants to share their thoughts and observations, ask questions, and suggest future lines of research.
