Walter is a PhD candidate in the University of Victoria’s School of Environmental Studies. He joined the Living Lab team in October 2025 to provide archaeological research support to the ÁLEṈENEȻ Restoration, Rights and Resurgence Project. Walter holds a BA and MA in archaeology from Simon Fraser University and he has worked as a consulting archaeologist since 2014. He is of English settler heritage and grew up on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, and səlilwətaɬ territories. He now lives and works on Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territories. As both a researcher and consultant, his work focuses on they ways in which people relate to heritage and how we can meaningfully engage with the past to understand ourselves and the world around us.
